Generative AI Will Dramatically Change the Internet

With the launch of ChatGPT last November, the general public had their first “aha” moment at the disruptive power of generative AI.

What is it? Well, if you think of AI as a pie, generative AI is one of the slices. It refers to artificial intelligence that can generate new outputs based on the data they have been trained on.

Below I will cover the generative AI landscape, featuring the products that are leading this revolution.

Text

ChatGPT is by far and away the most well known text generative AI. But the landscape is growing fast. Google just invested $300M into Anthropic, and Perplexity AI – another well-known generative text AI has raised $15M.

Generative image AIs first captured the imagination of the general public with the introduction of Dall-e, Midjourney and others.

Video

The generative video landscape is very exciting at the moment. Product’s like Runway’s Gen-1, D-ID, and Pix2Pix have left the internet awestruck.

Deepfake technology is growing at an alarming pace – as I showcased in today’s video.

Audio

Generative audio AI creates music from scratch using synthetic voices and sounds.

OpenAI’s Jukebox is particularity remarkable – capable of generating music, including rudimentary singing, as raw audio in a variety of genres and artist styles.

Gaming

Games like Minecraft and Roblox have already announced they are exploring generative AI tools to allow players to create their own virtual worlds using just text prompts.

This decade, you will be able to generate entire games based on text prompts. I made a video highlighting Opus AI – one of the early players in this space.

We are just at the beginning of a long, beautiful journey in generative AI development. One thing is for sure - it will dramatically change how we work, play, and learn.

It will supercharge the creator economy, much like the assembly line did to manufacturing. On steroids.

I believe that every brand and individual should be incorporating generative AI into their stack. It’s becoming an increasingly important part of my workflow - and has made me more productive and resourceful.
